Aranaway Farm is located in the beautiful Applegate
River Valley in Southern Oregon.

Mary Anne Morrison and her husband, Carl
Schwenke, have a deep sense of pride and joy in their
accomplishments as breeders and the evolution of Aranaway Farm.
Blessed with beautiful and outstanding horses and years of
successful Morgan breeding, Aranaway Farm has a reputation for
excellent service in the Morgan Industry.
For almost fifty years, Aranaway Farm has
been the source of outstanding breeding and show animals. Here you
will find the impeccable union of superior genetics. The proof of
these horses lies in their ability to produce and perform.
Many
people ask why we named our farm "ARANAWAY". It was derived from one
of our foundation stallions, Arana Field, who's life was saved as a
weanling by a man named Tony Arana. All of the resulting foals were
named with the Arana prefix and they did so well in the show ring
that it was a common statement, if you wanted to win, you better do
it the "Arana-Way." Thus, the name was adopted as our prefix. To the
right is a photo of Phil with the great Arana Field.
Mary Anne Morrison is an excellent and
versatile trainer and show woman. She competes successfully in every
division of the Morgan World. Mary Anne is a "R" AHSA Morgan judge
and has judged throughout the US, as well as Canada. She had judged
the first Morgan horse show in Germany and most recently judged the
National Show for Morgans in England. Her
mentor, teacher, and father was the late Phil Morrison, a noted
Morgan trainer, breeder, and judge who judged the Grand National and
World Championship Show three times, and nearly every other major
Morgan and Arabian show in the nation including the Arab Nationals.
Phil was inducted into the Morgan Horse Hall of Fame in the spring
of 1996. Phil with the great Sonoma is shown below.
We
are currently standing a full complement of stallions. These include
QP Alabama, The Millionaire, Aranaway Atlas, and Aranaway Ali Kas,
owned by Sue and Ron Crume of Grants Pass, Oregon.
Recently added to our breeding barn is Marro Medallion, our imported
purebred Andalusian stallion and the exciting imported
Lusitano Stallion from Brazil, Cordon Negro.
We utililize semen transport
methods. We also have a large herd of broodmares, six of whom are
UVM Promise daughters, and each year there is a lovely selection of
foals for sale. We currently have an extraordinary
group of weanlings, yearlings, two and three year-olds in
training and for sale.
We at Aranaway are very
sensitive to the needs of people wanting quality training and
lessons. As well as finding the right horse for them, we provide a
full service facility for training and lessons. We welcome visitors
and appreciate an appointment.
